He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and went on to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Malone attended Baylor College of Medicine for residency and training in anesthesiology, and then completed a pain management fellowship at Texas Orthopedic Hospital in 1998. Prior to founding Advanced Pain Care in 2002, Dr. Malone was a member of an Austin-based group practice for twelve years, and a clinical instructor at Baylor College of Medicine for six years. Paterno completed his residency training in Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital. He continued further specialization training with an Interventional Pain Management fellowship at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, recently recognized by the American Academy of Pain Medicine as one of the top pain management fellowships in the country.ĭr. Paterno has authored publications in clinical research and the basic sciences related to spinal fixation biomechanics as well as prolonged inflammatory responses in tissue injury.
